Every day, licensed speech pathologists break down the barrier to communication for infants, children, and adults. You can, too, with an affordable master’s in speech-language pathology from Molloy University.
Open to individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any field, our program provides students from diverse backgrounds a nurturing and engaging educational experience with state-of-the-art technology, individually tailored clinical experiences, and research opportunities in a variety of areas.
The Molloy graduate program is a two-year, full-time, in-person program that integrates theory and practice via evidence-based and culturally informed practice and service learning.
Accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, coursework involves understanding the biological, neurological, and psychological underpinnings of human communication in typical and disordered populations as well as the prevention, assessment, and treatment of a variety of communication, feeding and swallowing disorders.
Highlights of the program include graduate assistantships, coursework, and clinical experiences incorporating the use of instrumentation, and understanding the necessary influence of cultural and linguistic diversity within our practice and discipline. Inter-professional education and service learning are both integral elements of the program with local and international opportunities in clinical practice provision for underserved individuals with communication disorders.
Molloy speech-language pathology graduate students are highly qualified and successful. Since the program’s inception, student outcomes data show:
Your four semesters of clinical experience include supervised interaction at the Molloy Speech-Language Hearing Center, a dynamic place where faculty, licensed staff and students evaluate and treat communication disorders in infants, children, and adults.
We’re well equipped with instrumentation critical to assessment and treatment, including ultrasound, and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). Clinical educators work very closely with graduate students providing feedback for their in-house clinical assessment and treatment sessions to make the most of the experience.
You’ll also have two to three semesters of supervised clinical experience outside the Molloy Speech-Language Hearing Center. Each externship is designed specifically for you by our speech center director and the clinical coordinator. Our goal: To have you obtain 400 hours of clinical experience with clients of various cultural backgrounds as well as with a variety of pediatric, adult, and geriatric disorders in different work settings (e.g., schools and hospitals).
As a Molly graduate in speech-language pathology, you can receive your initial certification as a teacher of students with speech and language disabilities (TSSLD) within the MS program, which is seamlessly integrated into the course sequence. With the TSSLD, you are eligible to add a bilingual extension to that certification. (Courses are available through the Molloy School of Education & Human Services.)
One of the nation’s top value institutions, Molloy offers affordable tuition, together with federal grants and scholarships as well as graduate assistantships in speech-language pathology and other departments on campus.
